Richard Gorry is the Managing Director of JBC Energy Asia (Singapore). Richard has been providing consulting and advisory services to the world’s leading oil and gas companies for the last 14 years.

Richard began his career as an oil and gas analyst with PVM Vienna contributing his insights into a range of reports covering crude oil, refined product and natural gas markets. He later went on to become the Senior Consultant at JBC Energy with particular focus on supply, trading and risk management in the oil and gas industry, before moving to his current position in Singapore. Richard continues to provide his insight and analysis in a wide range of consulting projects and at conferences and workshops throughout Asia and the Middle East. Richard is a former visiting lecturer at the Ulsan National Institute of Science & Technology, South Korea.

Course Leader
Hans-Joachim Bautsch is an Independent Consultant to the petroleum industry with over thirty years of experience in the downstream business working for national and international oil and gas companies. His background spans from short term planning at refinery level to long term strategic development of the companies' downstream businesses.

Mr. Bautsch was responsible for developing the strategy of the Ruhr Oel refining JV between PdVSA and BP, and played a vital role in developing the concept of a complete restructuring of the Bayernoil refinery. He also worked on creating an integrated strategy connecting BP's business in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Poland with the NWE markets as well as rearranging and optimizing supply streams.

In the strategic review and adaptation of refining system for the legislations and car technology, Mr. Bautsch became actively involved in the lobbying process representing the company in industry associations on German and European level, vis-à-vis other stakeholders like car industry and biofuel manufacturers as well as vis-à-vis political bodies.

After leaving BP in 2011, Mr. Bautsch worked as a Consultant to mid-sized oil companies and began supporting JBC Energy.
